National Day of Prayer 2015: Lord Hear Our Prayer

Today marks the 64th Annual National Day of Prayer. At a time when it seems like the senselessness of tragedy and human cruelty is at its height, let us take this time to give thanks to God for all we have - joys and sorrows alike - and turn to Him in complete surrender. I think it is high time that we admit that we do not have the answers on our own, than our rugged individualism has led us astray, and return to the Lord on our knees crying out for mercy and right understanding.

Let's put aside our differences, political and otherwise, and put our hope in Christ alone. We belong to no one but Him.

Please join me in prayer this day for our families, our communities, our nation, and the whole of humanity. (Feel free to leave specific prayer requests in the comments or use the prayer request form on the right.) Pray for an end to violence and a culture of death. Pray for a return to authentic love. Pray for the victory of conscience and the abolition of the tyranny of intolerance in the name of tolerance. Pray for truth to reign and for hearts to be healed. Pray that we might learn to give thanks and rejoice with one another instead of climbing on and over our neighbors in an endless race to more of nothing. Pray without ceasing.
