As I was making dinner last night, the topic of my posts and other blog posts that have resonated with me kept nagging at me. What is it that makes us so afraid of not being "perfect" and why do we continually compare ourselves to others? One of my "comfort verses" of Scripture is in Psalm 139 - I am fearfully and wonderfully made. If I believe that to be true, then what does it matter that so-and-so is better at such-and-such? When I get out of my darkness, I also remember the words of Jesus to Peter, when asked to suffer for Him - what is it to you what I ask of anyone else?
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well..." Psalm 139
"God created mankind in his image;
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them." Genesis 1:27
This is who we believe our children to be - let's not forget to claim our own childhood, especially as children of God as that is the most perfect childhood we could possibly claim. We are his children, created in his image, fearfully and wonderfully made. Now own it!
I am grateful for this post... and very happy for you and your family. Yes. God is Good! xo
